日本国記（百田尚樹 著）
この本、面白いというと語弊があるかもしれないが、私は非常に面白く興味深く読むことが出来た。
今が旬と言える百田直樹が著したことから、以前から興味を持っていたが、少し重い感じもして躊躇していた。ところが、このコロナ禍の中で最近少し時間的余裕も出来た事から、退屈しのぎに手にしてみた。すると小生のような凡人にも非常に判りやすく、しかも、著者の物の見方、考え方が似ているという事もあってか、そうだそうだと肯ける内容が多く、一気にじっくりと楽しく読むことが出来た。
「日本国記」など何となく堅い感じで取りつきにくく感じられるが、中身はそうでも無い。少しでもご興味にある方は、躊躇することなく気楽に手にすることをおすすめします。
古代～大和政権誕生、そして、飛鳥、平城と時代を追って書かれているが、第８章明治の夜明けから終章の平成までは特に興味深く、著者の思い方、考え方が十分に反映されており、非常に興味深く読むことが出来ると思う。是非お読みください・・・。
Chronicles of Japan (by Naoki Hyakuta)
To say that this book is interesting may be a misnomer, but I found it to be a very interesting read.
I had been interested in this book for a long time because it was written by Naoki Momota, who is in his prime right now, but I had hesitated to read it because it seemed a little heavy. However, as I have recently been able to spare some time in the midst of the Corona disaster, I picked it up to relieve my boredom. The book was very easy to understand even for an ordinary person like me. In addition, there were many things that I could agree with, perhaps because the author’s views and ideas are similar to mine.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. “The Chronicles of Japan” may seem hard to get into, but the contents are not. If you are at all interested in this book, I recommend that you pick it up without hesitation.
The book is written in chronological order from ancient times to the birth of the Yamato regime, and then to Asuka and Heijo. Chapter 8, from the dawn of the Meiji era to the last chapter, Heisei era, is particularly interesting and reflects the author’s thoughts and ideas, making it a very interesting read.
