Just a few days ago, I boasted about the splendor of my hometown, Oki Island, in this blog, and now the island is dying and seriously injured.
There were a few reports in the media, but I didn’t pay any attention to them because it seemed to be raining a lot.
However, when I called the countryside yesterday on business, I found out that the entire Oki Islands were suffering from unimaginable downpours. according to what I’ve heard
It rained nearly 500 millimeters in just three hours. Because of this, many of the districts were destroyed by flash floods, the roads were cut off, water entered the houses, and so on.
And it was a very difficult situation.
I immediately contacted the Nishinoshima Town Hall to gather more information and called everyone I knew. Some of them are flooded above the floor, and the inside of the house is muddy.
The barn was crushed by a landslide and the main house was on the ground. According to the town hall information, 36 houses were flooded above the floor in Nishinoshima Town.
Seventy-four houses were flooded under the floor, public facilities, barns and cows’ houses were not counted, and several vehicles were washed away.
It’s a town of about 1,000 houses, and a tenth of them were flooded above and below the floor. Under such circumstances, the governor of the prefecture is coming to visit the site today.
If the town doesn’t somehow get a national disaster designation and work on restoration, the town will not be able to keep up with its finances, which are already on fire.
The main road has been repaired, but the mountain road is not even accessible. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that Shimamae (Nishinojima, Ama, Tomoo)
It seems to be more difficult after the island than after the island. It seems that most of the rice fields, not to mention the house, are ruined. An elderly farmer can’t do anything about the place where the mudslide entered the fields. Result.
It would put a stop to farming.
Those who are away from their hometown can only worry about it, but I hope they can do their best. But then again, the media…
I don’t know if they don’t care about the tiny isolated islands or if they don’t deserve to be reported, but what I can say is this.
They use the public airwaves to talk nonsense, but they don’t use it for the important things. I would like to say that it is the mass media that has corrupted Japan to this point.
