私の出身地、隠岐の島に今年7月よりジェット機が就航する。

今まではプロペラ機しか飛べなかったが1,500メートル滑走路を2,000メートルに延長、小型ジェット機が就航できる飛行場になった。
但し、就航するのは7月?８月の2ケ月弱で夏期シーズンだけである。
しかも乗客率が予定数に満たなければ今年でジェット機就航は中止となる公算が大いという。

従って、隠岐の島は大変である。目標の乗客数を確保しないと、折角のジェット化が無駄になってしまう。そこで町や観光協会は勿論、
島民皆が乗客確保に必死になっているという。

そんな関係で私の所にも、ジェット機就航を宣伝せよとのことらしく、広告用のマグネットシールが送られてきた。
長さ50センチ幅15センチ程のマグネットシールに「隠岐ジェット機就航」の文字と「小型ジェット機」が描かれたものである。多分、
車に張って走れという事らしい。ムム・・、一寸引くものがある。しかし、隠岐の島出身者としてはそうも言っておれない。どうしたものか？
と少し複雑な気持ちでそのシールをほっていた。ところがある夜、ほろ酔い機嫌で我が家に帰ると、
何とそのマグネットシールが目前に飛び込んで来た。何と我が家の門の鉄扉に「隠岐ジェット機就航」のシールが貼り付けてある。ウム・・、
女房も中々やるな・・・。少し気後れしていた自分が恥ずかしくなった。週一くらいしか車には乗らないが、今度乗る時は、
鉄扉に張られたシールを車に張り替えて走ることにしよう・・。

それにしても、ジェット化に幾らの金がかかったことか？。目標乗客数に達しなければ来年は飛ばさない・・、それって本当。
余りにも露骨過ぎないか・・・。ジェット化の目的が島民の意図と違う所にあるのは明らかなようである。

しかし、それはそれとしてジェット化は島民にも観光客にもとても便利である。何とか目標を達し、来年も飛んで欲しいものだ。

昨日自宅に帰ると、「JMAS便り」が届いていた。
早速目を通すと、４０年来の友である高山良二（JMAS理事）の記事が目に飛び込んできた。

写真パネル展開催（愛媛支部）「オヤジたちの国際貢献ーカンボジア地雷・不発弾処理活動　写真パネル展」
・高山理事による講演「カンボジアの今」を開催した、と云うものである。結果は、
県知事をはじめ１，８７０名の来場があり、大成功であった様子が綴られていて、我がことの様に嬉しく思った。

そこで、少し彼（高山）のことと「日本地雷処理を支援する会」
（JMAS)の事を書いて見たいと思う。

高山と私は自衛隊の同期であり、共に夜間大学に学んだ学友でもある。私は大学卒業と同時に自衛隊も除隊し、民間企業に就職、
調査の道に入ったが、彼はそのまま自衛隊に残り幹部となった。５４歳の退官時には二等陸佐（昔の中佐）に昇進していた。
その彼が退官と同時に奔走したのがカンボジアの不発弾と地雷処理の仕事である。所謂、
「日本地雷処理を支援する会」（JMAS)の立ち上げである。自衛隊OBを中心とした全くのボランテイア活動であるが、
多くの賛同者と支援者を得て会の立ち上げに成功。以来、カンボジアに単身赴任し、現地スタッフと一緒になって不発弾処理に奔走、
今年2月現在で70.593発の不発弾を処理をしたという。

その彼が、2週間ほど前に突然電話をかけて来た。「今カンボジアから帰ってきた・・・・」と。用件は私的なことであったが、
その後彼が言うには、今年7月下旬頃から旧ポルポト政権の支配地域に一人入り、現地住民を使っての地雷と不発弾処理を計画しており、
ポルポト幹部との交渉を済ませ、その準備の為に帰って来たとの事であった。よくよく話を聞いてみると、治安もさることながら自然環境
（衛生問題等）も想像を絶するものようである。しかし、彼はそんな事は全く意に介していない様子で、
喜々とした弾んだ声でしゃべりまくっていた。とにかく頭が下がる思いである・・・。

私が今できるのは、JMASの会員として僅かばかりの資金援助をするくらいの事でしかないが、
地道な国際貢献に命をかける彼の姿に多くの事を学ばせて貰っている。

So, a little bit about him (Takayama) and the “Japan Landmine Disposal Support Group
I’d like to write about (JMAS).

Takayama and I are the same classmates in the Self-Defense Forces and we both studied at the night school. When I graduated from university, I left the Self-Defense Forces and worked for a private company.
He went into research, but remained in the Self-Defense Forces and became an officer, and by the time he retired at age 54 he had been promoted to second lieutenant colonel.
When he retired from the army, he was busy working on unexploded ordnance and mine disposal in Cambodia. so to speak.
This was the launch of the Japan Mine Action Society (JMAS). This is a totally volunteer activity, mainly by former members of the Self-Defense Forces.
The group was successfully launched with many supporters and supporters. Since then, he has been posted to Cambodia alone, working with the local staff to dispose of unexploded ordnance.
As of February of this year, 70.593 unexploded ordnance had been disposed of, he said.

Then he called me out of the blue about two weeks ago. I just got back from Cambodia….. My business was a private matter.
Later, he said, one person entered the former Pol Pot regime’s controlled area around the end of July this year, planning to use the local population to dispose of mines and unexploded ordnance.
He said that he had finished his negotiations with Pol Pot’s top officials and had returned to prepare for them. If you listen carefully, you will find that not only the safety but also the natural environment

He chattered away in a joyous, bouncy voice. Anyway, I’m bowled over…

The only thing I can do now is to give a little financial support as a member of JMAS, but
I’ve learned a lot from his dedication to making sober international contributions.

昨日(２１日、祭日）ゴルフを楽しみ帰宅すると、我が母校・隠岐島前高校から郵便物が届いていた。早速開封してみると、
何と隠岐島前高等学校創立五十年史であった。今は跡形も無くなった古い木造校舎や通学船
（離島故の船通学）の写真、恩師や懐かしい同級生の言葉などが盛り沢山つづられており、
何とも楽しかった青春の一コマ一コマが走馬灯の様に甦って来た。寝床についてからもその五十年史が離せず、
結局寝ついたのは１時を過ぎていた。

私が卒業したのは昭和４１年３月、隠岐島前高等学校の１期生である。同校の創立は昭和３０年であるが、
当初は隠岐高校の夜間分校として開校され、同３３年には日本最初の全日制分校となった学校である。

隠岐ノ島は本土から約６０キロの日本海に浮かぶ離島であり、大きく島前・島後の２つに分けられるが、この島前・
島後の間でも船で１時間以上を要した為通学は不可能。当時高校は島に２校（隠岐高校と隠岐水産高校）あったが何れも島後にあり、
島前の子供は本土の学校（松江）か島後の学校に進むしかなかったが何れも親元を離れての下宿生活を余儀なくされた。その為、
島前地区の人に取って高校誘致は長年の悲願であった。
その為に一方ならぬ努力をしたのが初代の分校主事を務めた室崎美繁先生である。
とにかく何が何でも島前に高校を、と岩をも砕く信念で、県や文部省に足を運んだと聞く。その努力が実っての５０年である。
室崎先生は数年前に亡くなられたが、さぞこの５０年史をみたかったのでは・・・。

I graduated in March 1966 as a first-year student of Okijimae High School. The school was founded in 1955, but the

Oki-no-jima is a remote island in the Sea of Japan, about 60 km from the mainland, and can be divided into two main islands, Shimamae and Post-jimae.
Even between the islands, it was impossible to commute to school because it took more than an hour by boat. At that time, there were two high schools on the island (Oki High School and Oki Suisan High School), but all of them were located in the back of the island.
Children from before the island had no choice but to go to school on the mainland (Matsue) or after the island, but both were forced to live in lodgings away from their parents. For this reason.
Attracting a high school has been a long-standing wish for the people of the Shimamae area.
It was Mr. Yoshishige Murosaki, who served as the first headmaster of the branch school, who made an unremitting effort for this purpose.
He went to the prefectural government and the Ministry of Education with his rock-shattering belief that he would build a high school in front of the island no matter what. It has been 50 years since those efforts have paid off.
Dr. Murosaki passed away a few years ago, but I’m sure he would have liked to see this 50-year history…

最近よく熟年離婚という言葉を聞く。
長年連れ添った夫婦が定年を迎える６０歳前後に突然離婚するケースが急増しており、２０年以上同居していた夫婦の離婚を
「熟年離婚」と定義しているらしい。

マスコミ報道によると、ここ１０年で熟年離婚が２倍に増え、離婚の全体比でも２倍、
同居３０年以上に限ってみると何と３倍に増えているという。

しかも、離婚の申し出は圧倒的に妻側からが多いという。世の亭主族は、額に汗して妻子の為にとセッセと働き、やっと定年を迎え、
「少しのんびりと」と思った途端に、妻から離婚届をつけ付けられるという事らしい。

夫婦関係は百人百様で、離婚の形も一概に言えるものはないと思うが、理由がハッキリしないまま長年連れ添った妻に、
ある日突然離婚届けを付きつけられる男の心境たるや、如何に・・・。

ところが私の友人にこんな夫婦が居る。後２年で６０歳を迎える夫婦だが、この夫婦には子供が居ない。一般に子供が居ない夫婦は、
非常に仲良く見えるカップルが多いが、この二人もその例に漏れず、傍目にはとても仲睦まじくみえる。ところがこの夫婦、
６０歳になったら離婚しようと二人で決めているという。どう云う事なのかよく判らないがそう決めたという。

その話を聞いて、一寸考えさせられた。決して仲が悪い訳ではない、経済的に苦しい訳でもない、愛がない訳でもなさそう、
所謂夫婦関係が破綻している訳でない。だからニコニコしてお互いが離婚を話し合い、納得したということらしい。どうも、
６０歳で定年を迎えたらお互いが全く新たな出発をしようと云うことらしい・・。煩わしい干渉から一切離れ、
真に自分の人生を生きてみようと云うことのようだ。

お互い納得の上ならそれも良いだろうが・・、「そんなものでは無いでしょうが・・」と云いたいような気もする。
何れにしても一寸考えさせられる話であった。

He said they had decided to get a divorce when he turned 60. I don’t know what that means, but he said he decided to do so.

That story made me think for a moment. It’s not that we don’t get along, it’s not that we’re struggling financially, it’s not that we don’t love each other.
It’s not that the marital relationship has broken down. So they smiled and said that they discussed the divorce with each other and were satisfied with it. Thank you.
They say that when we retire at 60, we are going to make a completely new start… You’ll get away from all the interference.
It’s like trying to truly live your life.

It would be nice if we both agreed on that, but I feel like I want to say, “It’s not like that…
In any case, it was a story that made me think for a moment.

所属する大阪船場ロータリークラブの中に親睦を目的とした各種同好会があり、その一つにスキー同好会と云うのがある。
この同好会は10名前後で年に1度、日本各地のスキー場に出向く事にしている。昨年は、
秋田の田沢湖スキー場であったが今年は北海道のニセコに行くことなり、先週末から3泊4日でスキーを楽しんできた。ところが、帰ると直ぐに、
事務局から「松谷さん、週報にスキー同好会の報告を書いて・・」とのメール。来週の週報に載せるとの事で急ぎ、以下の報告書を書いた。
そこで、今週のブログは手抜きをして、その報告書を添付することとする。

今年のスキー同好会は、かの有名なニセコスキー場。2月17日から2泊3日組と3泊4日組の変則スケジュールにて実施。
○○会長の海外スキー仲間（おじんとギャルの不思議な組み合わせ）に我が同好会が合流する形となり、
総勢24名の大所帯となった。
船場ＲＣからは○○、○○、松谷夫妻の他、ＯＢの○○ご夫妻とお姉さんの12名が参加。
夜も明けやらぬ早朝に伊丹集合、ＪＡＬ2001便にて空路千歳へ。
北海道上空にさしかかるや眼下は一面の銀世界、北海道全土が雪に覆われている。当たり前のことながら一寸した感動を覚える。
無事千歳着、バスにて支笏湖を右手に眺めながら一路ニセコへ。私の後ろに座した○○さん（弁護士）がガイド役を務めてくれる、
毒舌混じりガイド故に中々味わい深いものであった。13：
30ニセコスキー場着、
早速スキーウエアーに着替えてゲレンデに集合。○○会長の指揮の下、一挙にゴンドラでヒラフの中腹に降り立つ。
1年1回の初級スキーヤーに取っては足がすくむ思いの中、
寒暖計を眺めると、何とマイナス17度。
武者震いか寒さゆえか振るえが止まらない、そんな状況を知ってか知らずか○○指揮官曰く「松ちゃん、
この下国体コースだから気をつけてナ・・・」、言うが早いか雪小僧のごとく何処かえ消えてしまった。
後に残されし我ら初心者集団は、寒さと不安に震えつつ指揮官なしで思いおもいの滑降に入った。しかし、
余りの寒さに2時間ともたずダウン。
夜は7時半からニセコ銀座のすし屋にて作戦会議。
夜の作戦会議は何といっても○○大将が指揮官。20名からの大所帯ゆえに中々作戦はまとまらない。
それに嫌気がさしたのか指揮官の大将、隣のテーブルに居た10名程の外人部隊
（オーストラリア人）にちょっかいを出し始めた。最初の一言二言は英語らしき単語が聞こえたが、
後はボデイーアクションと感嘆詞のオーのみである。ところが結構な盛り上がり、その内に○○中将と○○参謀が加わり、
ロータリー精神よろしく大変な国際親善と相成った。

翌18日は少し寒さは和らいだが、
それでもゲレンデ中腹の寒暖計でマイナス12度。
そこから未だ上に２つのリフトを乗り継いで上るため、多分頂上付近はマイナス15度は越えていたものと思われるが、
そんな寒さの中でもスキーとなると別。皆が幼少に帰ったのかの如く嬉々として、滑っては昇り滑っては昇りを繰り返す。
誰が考えたのか知らないが下手はへたなりに何とも楽しいスポーツである。当日の夜は、ＯＢの○○さんご夫妻とお姉さんが合流し、
石狩鍋と蟹鍋に舌鼓をうちながら大いに親睦を深めたのであった。

翌19日は、
天候も回復基調。ひにくな事に2泊3日組みが帰路についた午後3時過ぎ、
一挙に暗雲が消え、北海道富士と呼ばれる羊蹄山が目前に広がった。それはそれは筆舌に尽くしがたい見事な眺めであった。
道産子曰く、「2月にこれほど見事に羊蹄山が見えるのは珍しい」
とのこと。そして、翌20日は、
それにも増しての見事な晴天で、羊蹄山を眺めながらの滑降はニセコならではの素晴らしいものであった。

This year’s ski club was held at the famous Niseko ski resort with an irregular schedule of 2 nights and 3 days and 3 nights and 4 days from February 17.
Our club became a form of joining with the overseas skiing companion (a mysterious combination of a girl and a girl) of the chairman of the club.
There were a total of 24 people in the group.

We met in Itami in the early morning and took JAL flight 2001 to Chitose.
As soon as the skies over Hokkaido come into view, it’s a world of silver and the whole of Hokkaido is covered in snow. As a matter of course, it’s a bit of an emotional experience.
Arriving safely at Chitose, we take a bus to Niseko with a view of Lake Shikotsu on our right. The lawyer sitting behind me will act as my guide.
It was very interesting because the guide had a lot of tongue in his mouth.

We quickly changed into our ski wear and met at the slope. Under the direction of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, we took the gondola and descended into the middle of the Hirafu at once.
