この7月から大阪船場ロータリークラブの会長を務めなければならくなった。3年前から決まっていた事とはいえ、いざと成ると気が重い。でも、やるっきゃない。

業界や郷土会など結構会長職は仰せつかっているが、正直ロータリーの会長職は特別で、多忙であると同時に毎週の例会で10分程喋らなければならない。毎週のこと故、話題作りに気を使う。

来週は初年度例会ゆえ、一年間の年度方針発表で何とかなるが、その後どうしよう・・・。

尚、週報に談話室というのがあり、そのしょっぱなが小生となった。そこで、今日のブログは、その原稿を添付して、お茶をにごすこととする。あしからず・・。

8年ほど前に自宅の庭の片隅を開墾し、一坪農園を始めた。宅地の庭を掘り起こして造った畑ゆえ、土は痩せてガリガリ。でも始めて植えたトマトやキュウリ、ナスはそこそこ出来た。なんだ、野菜作りって簡単なもの、と思った。夏野菜が終わったところで、冬野菜の準備にかかった。老体に鞭打ち、鍬とスコップで結構深く耕した。そこで、ほうれん草、大根、人参などの種をまき、早く目を出せ・・、セッセと水をやり叱咤激励。すると可愛らしい芽が一杯出てきた。２・３センチの大きさになると、間引きをしてやる。間引き菜は朝の味噌汁の具。サイコー、毎朝一坪農園に足を運ぶのが楽しみとなった。ところがところが、途中から全く成長しない。大根は5センチほどでストライキ。ほうれん草は地べたに這いつくばり、頭を上げようともしない。人参は姿も見せずといった状態。そんなこんなの繰り返しで、早や8年にもなるが、冬野菜は未ださっぱり。とこりが今年4月の事、農夫の清水さんに、SAAの打ち合わせの後、酒の肴にその話をした。清水さん曰く、「マッチャンそら土が駄目だよ。農業は土作りから・・」、懇々と説教された。そうかやっぱりな・・何でも努力をせんとな・・等と打ちひしがれていた。ところがである、その説教された３日目のこと、我が家に大きな荷物が送られて来た。中味はと見ると、「栄和産業、土壌改良剤」とある。涙が出るほど嬉しかった・・。買えば安い物だろうが、そうではない。わざに高い送料を出して贈ってくれたのである。持つべきはロータリアンの友。その土壌改良剤をたっぷり使って、清水さんの指示通りに土作りに精をだすと、以下の通り。今は毎朝、キュウリの収穫にいそしんでいる。今年は絶対に冬野菜も成功させるぞ・・。

About eight years ago, I cultivated a corner of my home garden and started a one-pyeong farm. The soil is skinny and shiny because it was dug up from the garden of the estate. But the tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplants we planted for the first time were so good. I thought, “How easy it is to make vegetables. With the summer vegetables just finished, it was time to prepare the winter vegetables. I whipped my old body and ploughed pretty deep with a hoe and shovel. So, I sowed seeds of spinach, radish, carrot, etc., and let the eyes come out quickly… and watered them with water to encourage you. Then a lot of pretty buds came out, and when they were 2 or 3 cm in size, I thinned them out. The thinly sliced greens are ingredients of miso soup in the morning. However, on the third day of the sermon, a large package was sent to my house. When I looked at the contents, it said “EIWA Sangyo, soil conditioner”. I was so happy that I burst into tears… It’s probably a cheap thing to buy, but it’s not. He paid a high shipping fee for the gift. You should have a friend who is a Rotarian. We used a lot of the soil conditioner and started to prepare the soil according to Mr. Shimizu’s instructions. Every morning now, I’m busy harvesting cucumbers. I will definitely make winter vegetables a success this year…

ドーン・・突然下から突き上げられた。アッと思う間もなく、湯飲みが一人で動き勝手にこけていた・・。直後グラグラっと来た、何故か天井の隅を眺めた。これは大きい、何か対策を・・・っと思ったときには止んでいた。

短かったが大きかった。初めての大きさであった。阪神の時も香里園（少し場所は違う）に居たが、最初のドーンは今回の方が大きかったように思う。怖いというより、どうなるのかな・・・天井を眺めながら、突然不安がよぎった。

あのまま家が潰れたら、上手くテーブルの下に身を置けたかどうか・・・。

暫くして外に出てみると、前の家の屋根瓦がずり落ちて、無残な状態。隣もそうだ。ところが、その隣は大丈夫。後でよくよく見ると、我が家を中心に南北の並びの家の屋根が大方やられていた。庭に目を転じると、やはり、南北にすう本の地割れが走っていた。これは活断層か・・・。

それにしても何が起こるか判らない・・・。

何時終わってもいい様に、精一杯活きなければ・・と思った。

我が家の庭に、南北にこんな地割れが出来たいた。

今週日曜日（１０日）、近畿國賀会第５３回総会が森之宮のKKRホテルで大々的に開催された。

参加者１３０名余。郷里、西ノ島町からも町長、町議会議長、各区の区長さんなど大勢の方が参加してくださり、非常に楽しく賑やかな会となった。

この近畿國賀会というのは、西ノ島町（島根県）の出郷者が年に一度、一同に会し、親睦を深め、昔を語り、そして郷里との架け橋になろうという非常に楽しい会である。

それが今回５３回目。継続は力なりというが、それにしてもよく続いたものだと思う。

私は、１５年前にこの会の会長を仰せつかり、５年間務めさせて頂いたが、今年再度という事になり、仕方なく渋々お受けしたというのが正直なところ。ところが、皆がそれなりに楽しんでいるのを見ると、これはこれでまた良いものだな・・など感じた。

西ノ島町の民謡を歌う会、「しげさ会」の歌と踊り。田舎からわざにこの会の為に出てきてくれる。

宴会が始まると直ぐに座はぐちゃぐちゃ。

参加者が飛び入りで隠岐民謡を歌う。流石に飛び入りするぐらいだけに歌は玄人はだし。

The 53rd general meeting of the Kinki Kokuga-kai was held this Sunday (10th) at KKR Hotel in Morinomiya.

The Kinki Kokuga-kai is an annual gathering of people from Nishinoshima-cho (Shimane Prefecture) to deepen friendship, talk about the past, and build bridges with their hometowns.

This was the 53rd time. It is said that continuation is power, but even so, I think it has continued well.

I was asked to be the president of this association fifteen years ago, and I have served for five years. However, when I saw that everyone was enjoying it in their own way, I felt that this was a good thing again…

● 飛べない蝶の悲劇
あるところに、間もなく羽化して飛び立とうと、必至にもがく蝶のさなぎがありました。
そんな光景を観ていたある男が、なかなか堅そうな殻を破けずにもがき苦しんでいるその姿を見て、可哀想に思い、手伝ってあげようと殻の端の方を少し切ってあげたのです。
すると、その切り込みの辺りから見事にさなぎの殻が破け、蝶はようやく中から出て来ることができました。
しかし、その時に中から出てきたものは、なぜかそのまま、地面にボトン、と落ちました。地面におちたそれは、なぜかイモムシのように胴が大きく、背中にクシャクシャと縮まった羽根とも言えないようなものが生えていました。さなぎからようやく出てきたそれは、羽根を広げて空に舞う「蝶」の姿ではなかったのです。そして、そのイモムシのような姿をした虫は男を見上げ、こう言いました。「ありがとう！あなたが殻を切って手伝ってくれたんだね。お陰で楽に出て来られたよ。さっきまでは、苦しかったなぁ。。。」そう言い残して、その虫は重たい胴を引きずり、地を這うように歩いて去って行きました。その虫は、「自分が本当は何者であるか」に一生気づくことなく、その短い生涯を終えることになるでしょう。

一生飛ぶことの出来ない、蝶とは呼べない蝶として。。。
・・・そう、男は知らなかったのです。
蝶が、あの堅いさなぎの殻の中で、何をしているのかの真実を。
蝶は、堅いさなぎの殻の中でもがくことで、胴の栄養が羽根に送り込まれ、そのプロセスを通して、初めて、空に飛び立てるほど立派な羽が形成される、という真実を。

大空を羽ばたく、美しく立派な羽根がちょうど仕上る頃に、さなぎの殻が破けるよう、この大自然の法則には完璧な仕組みが存在している真理を。

この寓話は、最近興味を持って学んでいる、精神世界の先生の話にあったものですが、今の学校教育、いや、社会人の中でも、大いに参考になる寓話でないかと思いました。と同時に大いに反省させられるものでもありました。

大体のことは自分では良かれと思ってやっているんだよな・・・。でも、本当は無知、無理解で逆のことをやっていることが結構あるのだろうな・・・と。

今週月曜日（５月２８日）、船場ロータリークラブの３０周年記念式典を無事終えることができ、ひと段落。正直ホッとしている。

僕は、船場が１０周年を迎える平成１０年の１月に入会した為、一様１０周年、２０周年と周年記念式典は２回経験してはいるが、今回の３０周年は会長エレクトという立場にあったため、何かと気を使うことも多く、大変であった。しかし、それだけに安堵感も大きい。ただ、７月から会長職につかなければならず、それはそれでまた大変である。だが何事も経験、やるからには精一杯楽しくやろうと思っている。

今回の３０周年では、姉妹クラブであるシンガポールロータリークラブから多くのメンバーが参加してくれ、式典に華を添えてくれた。また、友好クラブや２６６０地区の会長、幹事及び親クラブである心斎橋ロータリークラブのメンバーが全員参加してくれる等して、盛大な式典を催すことができた。

本当にありがとうございました。

宝塚歌劇団のOGによる歌謡ショー

This Monday (May 28), the Rotary Club of Funaba’s 30th anniversary celebration was successfully completed. I’m honestly relieved.

Since I joined Semba in January 1998, the 10th anniversary of Semba, I have experienced two anniversary ceremonies, the 10th anniversary and the 20th anniversary, but since I was the president-elect for the 30th anniversary, I had a lot to worry about. However, this is also a great sense of relief. However, I have to take the position of president from July, which is also very difficult. But I’m going to have fun and experience everything, so I’m going to do it to the best of my ability.

Many members of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Singapore, participated in this 30th anniversary and added a lot of color to the ceremony. All the members of the friendship club, the president and secretary of District 2660, and the parent club, the Rotary Club of Shinsaibashi, participated in the ceremony.
