１月１６日（木）から２０日（月）までカンボジア王国バッタンバン州タサエン村を訪問した。目的は、小生が所属する大阪船場ロータリークラブの３０周年記念事業として、同地区に小学校を建設。その寄贈式に参加するためで、ロータリーメンバー７名で訪問した。

小学校建設は、カンボジアとタイとの国境に面するタサエン村。此処は内戦時のポルポト軍が最後の砦としたところで、住民の大半がポルポト軍に関係した地域であり、当時学校などの教育施設は全て破壊されていた。

従って、学校は極端に不足しており、未だ学校に行けない子供も居り、地元では学校寄贈を強く望んでいる。

建設した学校は５０名が学べる教室が３教室。学校は２部制で午前、午後に別れており、小さな、簡素な学校ではあるが３００名の小学生が学べる事と成り、費用：効果の上からも非常に有意義な事業と云える。

寄贈式の一コマ、参加者は皆で７～８００名。こんな大きな式典とは思っていなかったため、ロータリーメンバーは極めてラフな服装で参加。式場に行ってビックリしたが今さらどうしようも無く、腹を決めて雛壇に着座。

仏教国故、あらゆる式典に僧侶が参列するらしい。式が始まる前に僧侶の前にひれ伏して挨拶。その後、僧侶がお経をあげて後、式典が始まった。

式典での挨拶は、長ければ長いほど意を表す事になるらしく、なんと副知事の挨拶は延々３０分続いた。当日は気温３６度、湿気も高く、ただただ忍の一字であった。

式典の後、小生は単独で４年前に寄贈した、松谷小学校を訪問。

From Thursday, January 16 to Monday, January 20, we visited Tasaeng Village, Battambang Province, Kingdom of Cambodia. The purpose of the project was to build an elementary school in the same area as the 30th anniversary of the Osaka Senba Rotary Club to which I belong. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the donation ceremony, which was attended by seven Rotary members.

The primary school was built in the village of Tasaeng, which faces the border between Cambodia and Thailand. This was the last stronghold of the Pol Pot army during the civil war, and the majority of the inhabitants of the area were associated with the Pol Pot army, and at that time all educational facilities, including schools, had been destroyed.

Therefore, there is an extreme shortage of schools and some children are still unable to go to school, and the local community strongly wants to donate schools.

The school was built with three classrooms for 50 students. The school is divided into two parts, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Although it is a small and simple school, 300 elementary school students are able to learn.

I went to the wedding hall and was surprised, but I couldn’t do anything about it now, so I made up my mind and sat down on the dais.

１１月１２日（日曜日）、近畿島根県人会が、故郷応援団みんなで楽しむ近畿島根県人会と銘うって、ホテルニュー大谷で大々的に開催された。

この県人会は、島根県を、石見Ａ，石見Ｂ，出雲Ａ，出雲Ｂ，隠岐の５地区に分け、それぞれの地域出身者が幹事役となり年に１度開催するもので、今年は石見Ａ地区（益田市の周辺、西石見）が幹事役であった。

出席者は５００名弱、県知事以下多くの市町村長も来賓としてご参加頂き、何時ものことながら大変に盛り上がりであった。

島根を故郷に持つ、近畿地区在住者にとっては非常に楽しい年に一度のお祭りの様なものである。

出し物も、担当地区の特徴を生かし様々であるが、石見と云えば何といっても石見神楽http://iwamikagura.jp/modules/iwamikagura/content0001.html。

当日は、木ノ口神楽社中の面々が、それはそれは見事な神楽を披露してくれた。

On Sunday, November 12th, the Kinki Shimane Kenjinkai was held at the Hotel New Otani under the name of “Kinki Shimane Kenjinkai”.

This prefectural meeting is held once a year in Shimane Prefecture, divided into five districts: Iwami A, Iwami B, Izumo A, Izumo B, and Oki, with a person from each district serving as the organizer.

As usual, it was a very exciting event with less than 500 people in attendance, including the governor and many mayors of municipalities as guests.

For those of us who live in the Kinki area and have Shimane as our hometown, this is a very enjoyable once-a-year festival.

On the day of the event, all the members of Kinokuchi Kagura Shrine performed a splendid Kagura.

先々週の日曜日、何時も行く図書館に表題の本があった。小説以外、あまりハウツー的なものは手にしないが、パラパラとめくると結構面白そう。こんなのもたまにはいいかと借り出した。

　本の構成は、明治、大正、昭和の文豪５０人のプロフィール、恋愛観、趣味･特技、生没年、代表作の粗筋、生き方、エピソード、交友関係などが極めて簡潔にまとめられていた。こんなハウツーものだから別に読後感と云えるようなものは無いが、驚いたのは、文豪といわれる作家の短命なこと。

　約半数の作家が５０歳を迎えずに他界している。

　二葉亭四迷４５歳、夏目漱石39歳、正岡子規36歳 、尾崎紅葉35歳、国木田独歩37歳、樋口一葉24歳、有島武郎45歳、石川啄木26歳、萩原朔太郎37歳、芥川龍之介35歳 、岡本かの子49歳、宮沢賢治37歳、横光利一49歳、夢野久作47歳、梶井基次郎31歳、小林多喜二29歳、林文子47歳、堀辰雄48歳、中原中也３０歳、中島敦33歳、坂口安吾48歳、太宰治38歳、 織田作之助33歳、三島由紀夫45歳。

　また、当然といえば当然かも知れないが、恋多きこと、放蕩で家庭的を省みない、薬におぼれた作家など、エッそうだったのか？、と認識を新たにするもので、結構楽しく読ませていただいた。

　中でも驚いたのが石川啄木。恋愛観に記されているのが以下の内容。

　「妻子ある身でありながら、東京では何人かの芸者と交際するなど、非常に奔放である。一方で、妻子に家出されてひどく落ち込むなど、女性に依存する面もある。手紙から妻と友人・宮崎郁雨の浮気を疑い絶縁するなど、嫉妬深い顔も見せる。尚、中学はカンニングがバレて中退したとか、社会に出てからも借金まみれ、しかも、借りたお金を女遊びや遊興費に使い、仕事は無断欠勤するなど、相当奔放な生活を送っていたとある。

　エッ、あの生活苦を詠んだ石川啄木が。

「はたらけど、はたらけど、猶わが生活、楽にならざり、じっと手を見る」

「たはむれに、母を背負いて、そのあまり軽きに泣きて、三歩あゆまず」。

　この詩を手にした啄木の妹、光子は、「母に迷惑ばかりかけていた兄が母をおんぶするなど有りえない」と記しているとあった。

　小生は、おどろきのあまり、じっと文字をみる。

自分の今までの経験則で、こんな処世訓を持っていたが、これからは「男」を「女」に変えるべきかも。

今、「日本における最高の文化人は？　」と問われれば、私は即、「藤原正彦」と答するだろう。何故と云われれば一寸困るが、ただただ「この人は凄い」と思うから・・・。

小生が藤原正彦の名前を知ったのは多分２００６年だったと思う。氏の著書、「国家の品格」（２００５年のベストセラ＝、２００万部突破）を、東京出張中に友人から紹介され、何故か翌日にその本を購入、帰阪の新幹線の中で一挙に読んでしまった。　久々に清々しい気持ちになった。日本も捨てたものじゃない、こんなに正論を堂々と吐く文化人が居るんだと。以後、氏のエッセイや語録など興味深く読ませて頂き、月刊文芸春秋では、氏が行う、御茶ノ水女子大での講義「名著講義（武士道）」も受講（毎月読んだ）した。

今は、「この国のけじめ」を読んでいるが、一語一句、全てが　“そうだ、そうだ”　と思わせられるものであり、私自身が日頃思い感じていることを、爽やかに軽くズバリと切り捨てている。巷では、藤原正彦を文部科学大臣に・・、との声もある様であるが、安倍総理がもしそれを英断すれば、内閣支持率7０％回復は間違い無いと思うが・・・。
